Maintaining The Damask Table Linens

Table linens are every homemakers favorite. The table linens tend to enhance the grace of the regular tables etc. to a great extent. Though, the maintenance of these fabrics call for a lot of care and attention. Specially the damask or plain white linen. Even the minutest of stain is enough for spoiling the grace of the coveted damask linens. Mentioned below are few tips which can come handy while cleaning white linens or damask table linens.

For Red Wine
To remove a red wine stain, you would need to soak the stain in cool water first and pretreat it with a liquid laundry detergent or stain remover. Lastly, cleanse it using a fabric-safe bleach.

For Gravy
To remove a stain of gravy, you would need to pretreat or soak the stain into an enzymes containing product. In case its a dry stain, you would have to soak it for around half an hour. Launder it as the way you generally do and make sure that you don't machine dry it until the stain is removed.

For Butter
For a butter stain on table cloth or tray cloth etc. you would have to use the hottest water which is safe for the fabric but before that pretreat it using specifically a prewash stain remover or a liquid laundry detergent.

For Candle Wax
First of all you would have to scrape off the wax from the linen using a dull knife. In case the wax is still stuck onto the fabric fibers, put the linen in between the white paper towels and then press it using a warm iron, the paper towels would end up absorbing the wax.

If enough attention is given to the maintenance of table linens, they can indeed last for a long period of time. Proper storing and washing of linens would duly reap its benefit with linens being as fresh as new!
